GTA 6 will return to Vice City and feature other locations after launch, a source “close to the matter” said.
This is in line with a detailed article on the development of GTA 6. Sources speaking anonymously to Bloomberg (opens in new tab) say that the long-awaited sequel will see us return to Vice City, or at least a fictionalized version of Miami.
The game is planned to be the biggest Grand Theft Auto title of all time and was originally designed to span large regions modeled after North and South America, the source says. Those plans were later cut, however. As GTA 6 currently stands, your main map will contain Vice City and the surrounding metropolis area.
fast expansion
It looks like the GTA 6 map will not remain static either. Rockstar plans to continually update the game after launch via patches that are substantially larger in scope than what GTA 5 received.
According to Bloomberg, Rockstar plans to add new missions and cities to the game “regularly”. Not only will these players be offered new areas to explore after completing the vanilla version of the game, but the release schedule is expected to shorten the crunch time during the final months of development.
The GTA 6 map will still be big at launch. Not only will it cover a wide area, but it will also feature more indoor locations than previous titles. Combined with the series’ first female lead, it looks like Rockstar is making some major changes to the basic formula of GTA.
Despite these details, we still don’t have a concrete release date. The latest leaks suggest that GTA 6 is at least two years away from release. Fortunately, there are plenty of games like GTA that you can play while you wait for Rockstar’s crime.
While we would not normally report on the anonymously sourced article from another outlet, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has an extremely strong track record of this type of journalism, making him more credible than most.
