If you have fond memories of PT, you’ll love this recreation of its iconic runner in Halo Infinite’s upcoming Forge mode.
Forge mode in Halo Infinite has yet to be officially released. But players with access to an unfinished building are already creating some truly brilliant creations. And this mockup of the PT’s claustrophobic corridor by YouTuber Templar of Death (opens in new tab) is easily one of the most impressive so far.
Death Templar’s video shows PT’s terrifying scenario with alarming accuracy. Indescribable photos hang in the hallway, while light sources strongly reflect off the wall.
forged in hell
PT was originally released as a free PS4 game in 2014. The game was infamously taken off the list by Konami around the time its director Hideo Kojima left the company. Fortunately, PT’s true purpose as a teaser for the now-canceled Silent Hills was revealed before that (opens in new tab).
This carefully crafted PT recreation of Halo Infinite’s Forge mode is far from the only demonstration of its advanced features. Another creator showed that a Call of Duty-style Zombies mode might be possible, for example.
But it looks like you won’t necessarily have to deal with the new Forge’s improved scripting elements to create awe-inspiring maps. Death Templar showed that a more immersive horror experience can work too. All you need is the know-how to build an environment using prefabricated parts, some lighting knowledge and a little imagination.
Halo Infinite has already impressed with its fantastic campaign and more sophisticated multiplayer offerings. But these Forge mode demos tell me the best is yet to come for the Xbox Series X shooter | S. Personally, I can’t wait to get absorbed in the new Forge mode to try and build some fun and (hopefully) creative maps.
Halo Infinite’s Forge mode does not yet have a release date. But it looks like 343 Industries isn’t shirking its development duties. If the first images we’ve seen of Forge mode are anything to go by, then I’d say its extended time in the oven has proven to be worth the wait.
